Level Up Your Leadering
Not all pastors are leaders, but all pastors lead. That probably needs further explanation!
Over the years, I've noticed three dynamics about pastors. First, pastors are expected to lead. This might be particularly true of "lead" pastors, but it shows up for us all. It's a baseline expectation that pastors lead and lead well. The second dynamic I've noticed is that plenty of pastors haven't been given a gift of leadership. What a struggle it can be for someone to strain and struggle to meet established expectations from a place that doesn't quite work! The third dynamic I've noticed is that all pastors do, in fact, lead. We may not all have the same skill or gifting, but leading happens.
Now, you've probably been around long enough to notice that leading can be skillful or disastrous. Whether you are gifted, talented, trained or otherwise, you lead.…
